Basic info

Creating Tomorrow's Games Today! Game Studio is where games are created! This club is especially suitable for children who dream of making their own games but haven't yet gotten familiar with programming languages. Minecraft's Education version is excellent for learning the basics of game development. It contains a diverse range of blocks that can be used to create exciting games. Additionally, block coding can be used to add functionalities to the game, thus introducing the basics of programming.

In Game Studio, children:

  • Learn basic coding and game design principles
  • Develop computational thinking and logic skills
  • Create playable games from scratch
  • Experience the complete game development process
  • Learn important skills in delegation and collaboration

Where: Itälahdenkatu 22 A, Helsinki (bus number 21 from Kamppi and Lauttasaari comes almost to the door) 4h free parking along the street. When: every Thursday 17:00–18:30 (for July we're moving the clubs to morning hours, so late afternoon vacation activities don't need to be interrupted because of the club) Note! Summer vacation absences can be compensated through our online clubs, which you can join even from your summer cottage with an internet connection!

Concrete Skills Development: Your child will learn block-based coding that transfers directly to programming languages, master game design documentation, and create a portfolio of playable games.

Safety First: Our educators undergo thorough background checks and are trained by School of Gaming for their role. Unlike unsupervised gaming, there's no exposure to inappropriate content or strangers online in the game club. Parents are welcome to observe club sessions anytime.

Active Creation, Not Passive Consumption: Every session includes practical game development, teamwork, and project-based work. Club members create, test, and continuously improve their own games.

Perfect Fit Promise: If your child doesn't connect with game development, we'll suggest alternatives or refund your payment. We want every child to find their passion.

Valuable Learning Investment: €69/month for specialized game development education is an investment in future career skills. Our gaming space has all the equipment and licenses, so you don't need to make purchases for home. However, if your child wants to continue with the game project at home, you'll get access to a Minecraft Education license from the club. The game can be downloaded for free online and runs on low-powered computers (you don't need a powerful machine humming in the corner).

Balanced Screen Time: Structured 90-minute sessions include planning on paper, peer discussions, and exercise breaks. We prevent gaming addiction by teaching healthy technology habits.

Work in the Parents' Lounge While Your Child Learns - stay productive in our comfortable workspace while your child develops valuable future skills.

Club membership also includes access to our community events and closed Discord community, as well as Lauttasaari's own WhatsApp group, through which we announce events and open gaming nights.
