Basic info

Professional Game Development Made Fun! Game Studio is where games are created! This club is suitable for children who are already proficient computer users and perhaps have experimented a bit with different programming languages. However, participants don't need to know how to code. We use GDevelop for game making in the club, which is a no-code game development platform. When we free participants from learning to code, we can focus on developing interesting game mechanics, stories, characters, and experiences. Despite being code-free, GDevelop is not just a children's toy - you can make real, publishable games with it. You can check out this video to see what the tool can accomplish: https://youtu.be/fWlbfyGARpg?si=qMdwVnlKVwmXhUWG Although you don't need to write actual code in GDevelop, it effectively teaches basic logic, which is extremely beneficial when children transition to programming languages.

We use GDevelop's school license in the club, which enables collaborative projects. You'll get the license to take home, and your child can continue working on the game project outside of club hours. GDevelop can even be used on a tablet and runs in a browser, so it doesn't require expensive equipment investments at home.

This club is therefore an excellent choice for future game developers who are ready to explore industry tools. Our GDeveloper club offers hands-on experience with real game development software.

Club members:

  • Master professional game development workflows
  • Learn the comprehensive game development process
  • Create 2D games with graphics and sound
  • Build a portfolio of self-made games
  • Learn to identify their own strengths and passion areas
  • Learn important skills in delegation and collaboration

Industry-Ready Skills: Your child will learn professional game development tools, understand logic, and build a portfolio of games to showcase.

Safety First: Our educators undergo thorough background checks and are trained by School of Gaming for their role. Unlike unsupervised gaming, there's no exposure to inappropriate content or strangers online in the game club. Parents are welcome to observe club sessions anytime.

100% Active Learning: No passive screen time! Students actively design, code, test, and iterate their games. They collaborate with peers, present their work, and receive constructive feedback.

Satisfaction Guarantee: If game development isn't your child's thing, we'll help find an alternative club or refund your investment - no questions asked. Your child's enthusiasm is our priority.

Future-Focused Investment: €69/month for professional software training is an investment in career-ready skills. Compare this to gaming expenses that offer no educational value and risk developing unhealthy habits.

Healthy Technology Habits: 90-minute structured sessions with breaks, offline planning, and peer interaction. We teach responsible technology use. Let's make the digital world better, one game at a time.

Work in the Parents' Lounge While Your Child Learns - enjoy our comfortable workspace with full amenities while your child develops professional skills in a safe environment.

Club membership also includes access to our community events and closed Discord community, as well as Lauttasaari's own WhatsApp group, through which we announce events and open gaming nights.

Wednesdays 15:30-17:00 | €69/month | Max 12 children/group

For whom is this club?

Suitability

Our Game Studio is perfect for 10–13 year olds who love games and want to learn game development. This is more advanced club than the one starting at 5pm and using Minecraft Education.

All School of Gaming materials are designed to be neurodiversity-friendly, and our gaming educators are trained to accommodate different types of gamers. Our standard club size is about 12 children, but if you believe your child would do better in a smaller group, our schedule also includes online neurodiversity-friendly gaming clubs with just 6 children per group.
