Safe Online – How to Protect Your Child from Online Dangers? – Online Parent Evening 11.3.2026

Children and young people spend a significant part of their time in digital environments – learning, chatting, and having fun. At the same time, they are also exposed to harmful phenomena such as cyberbullying, violent content, and hate speech. In this online parent evening, we will address children's online safety and provide tools for how parents can support their children's safe, balanced, and positive use of the internet.

The online parent evening will be held on Wednesday 11.3.2026 at 18:00–19:00 via Teams.

The following presentations will be featured at the parent evening:

Online safety in gaming / School of Gaming

For children, online games mean play, friends, and learning. For parents, they often raise concerns and frustration: Who is my child playing with? Is the environment really safe? This presentation addresses online safety in gaming. We offer answers to parents' most common questions, concrete tools for protecting children, and practical rules and models for safe gaming.

Violent content online / Pelastakaa Lapset ry, Turvanuotta project

The majority of children and young people encounter violent content online. This presentation covers the various forms of violence found online, such as hate speech, violent material, and radicalising content. We also offer tools for protecting children from violent online content and tips for discussing the topic.

Support for parents dealing with bullying / Vanhempainliitto, Kohti turvallista koulupolkua project

Cyberbullying is often difficult to notice, and many parents wonder how to respond when it occurs. This presentation provides guidance on what to do if your child encounters cyberbullying, and introduces the support services offered by Vanhempainliitto for parents of children who have experienced bullying or participated in bullying.

This parent evening is aimed especially at parents of children aged 13–18, but everyone interested in the topic is welcome to join.

The parent evening is organised by Pelastakaa Lapset ry, School of Gaming, and Suomen Vanhempainliitto ry.
